This book discusses the process that The Arion Press underwent to produce their sixth publication -- an illustrated, hand-set folio edition, limited to 250 copies for sale of the classic, Moby Dick. This is touted as “one of the most elaborate printing ventures ever to be undertaken by an American press”. Covered topics include selection, casting, and cutting of the typeface (Goudy Modern, 18 pt. size); making of the paper; the process of illustration; and the printing and binding of the book.
