Catalog for an exhibition organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern art in cooperation with The Hand Bookbinders of California. The exhibition, covering the history of hand bookbinding, presented at the San Francisco Museum of Modern art from March 22-May 7, 1978, and at the William Rockhill Nelson Gallery and Atkins Museum of Art from June 11-July 22, 1978. It was the goal of the exhibition organizers to introduce fine binding to a new and larger audience. Limited to 2,500 copies printed on Mohawk Superfine and Quintessence Dull papers. Also included are a separate press release for the exhibition, and a list of bookbinding exhibitions and related activities in the San Francisco Bay area from March-May 1978.
