This is the catalog for the traveling Stand & Deliver: Engineering Sculpture into a Book Format exhibition which took place from January 10-October 28. The exhibition was sponsored by The Brookfield Craft Center and the Movable Book Society, and curated by Ed Hutchins. The catalog is designed in a pop-up book format, with two smaller volumes included. One covers “intriguing shapes, revealing folds, and uplifting pages” (here, these shapes often serve as metaphors for personal events in the artists’ lives) and the other covers the “introduction, essays and stories, and interactive CD”. Essays include: Curiosity Builds a Book by Werner Pfeiffer, Mechanics Elevated to Magic by Roberta Lavadour, Room and Board Games by Jen Thomas, Desk Flaps as Raven Slopes by Kelly Houle, The Lady of Ur by Ambar Past, Defining Certainty by Deborah Kogan, Animal Architecture by Shawn W. Sheehy, One For the Road by C. Joel Beaman, Enshrining Memory by Dorothy A. Yule, and Flash Action by Kyle Olmon. Also included is a report from the curator, the show schedule, acknowledgments, and an interactive CD.
