From Inside Cover: “Explicit directions, clearly illustrated, take the beginner through the three main processes [in bookbinding]: the preparing and sewing; the binding proper or forwarding; and the finishing – with all of the incidental operations peculiar to each process: folding of sheets, inserting of end sheets, rounding and backing, hanging-in, cover stamping and decorating, etc. Simple problems like making loose-leaf binders and photograph albums are presented almost immediately to give the beginner the “feel” of the craft. Later instructions are given which will give him a good opportunity to put the processes in practice. Other chapters give specific information and instruction for repairing books, binding of magazines, specifications for library binding, and a final chapter discusses the machines and describes the processes used in commercial binding.
