From introduction: “The development and refinement of polyester film encapsulation by the Library of Congress has resulted in widespread utilization of this technique. This pamphlet is divided into four sections and responds to those questions most frequently asked concerning the development and application of this procedure. The first section describes the character of the film and discusses its use in conservation as compared to other available techniques. The second section provides illustrated, step-by-step instructions for making the basic polyester envelope. A third section describes variations of the basic envelope including the “polyester book”. The concluding appendix provides the Library of Congress polyester film specifications used in ordering, manufacturers’ names and their films’ characteristics, and some sources of supply.”
