This specimen book first provides a brief history of the foundry. From introduction: “The history of the Letter Foundry of Stephenson, Blake & Co., Ltd. Is bound up with the earliest days of printing in England, and the first links of the chain uniting the Tudor Printer-Letter Founders with the Foundry at Sheffield are sufficiently well authenticated to be worthy of preservation.” An ancestry chart is also included.
