A glossary of terms in common use by the US Tanning, Shoe and Other Leather Product Industries, Sixth Edition. From introduction: “Forty years ago, the Tanner’s Council of America compiled the fist authoritative glossary of terms generally used in the tanning and leather products industries. This was intended for use in the trade, as well as by educational institutions – and has frequently been used as the basis for decisions by the courts and Federal regulatory agencies. The current dictionary – the sixth edition—has been completely revised. Terms which have arisen during the past four decades have been incorporated, and obsolete references have been dropped. This edition has also been prepared with the objective of providing manufacturers and retailers with accurate information and terminology for use in labeling and advertising their products.” This is a photocopy of the original text.
