This is intended to serve as a detailed ‘how-to’ to guide the reader through the process of marbling paper. The goal of the author in this work is to simplify the process of marbling for the beginner, and to provide additional information for those who have some experience in the field. Included are detailed instructions (though limited illustrations) for each project. Included are chapters on marbling tools and required materials, setting up the work area, seaweed vs. oil marbling, step by step marbling, Turkish or stone marbling, freeform marbling, sprinkle marbling, hair vein or Italian, combed or nonpareil, fancy combed, reverse combed, peacock, bouquet, French curl or snail, Spanish marbling, Stormont, antique or zebra, ghost or overmarbling, common issues in marbling, sources of supply, and further suggested readings. Samples of marbling reproduced in the text were hand-marbled by Iris Nevins, with the exception of the “Ghost” or overmarbling, which was hand-marbled by Lorien Harmon.
