Small presses, Book industries and trade, Supplies and stores, Rare books, Catalogs
The Small Press Distribution is a quarterly catalog published with a short introduction, lists of books with short descriptions and/or quotes, publisher information, bestseller lists, and ordering information. The catalog is currently discontinued, and is supplemented by an on-line list of resources and recommendations.
Small Press Distribution is dedicated to providing a broad representation of non-mainstream contemporary literature to as wide an audience as possible, serving the needs of alternative presses, independent bookstores, library collections, and individual readers. They warehouse, catalog, and distribute books, often as the sole source of their titles from around the world. (SPD, 1990) SPD is currently the nation's only exclusively literary non-profit book distributor, serving over 400 small and independent presses, the majority of which have no other source of distribution.
