The Society of Scribes is a non-profit organization located in New York City founded in 1974 to preserve and enhance the practice, appreciation, and knowledge of calligraphy and its related arts. The Society of Scribes is administrated by a Board of Governors elected annually at the General Meeting in February. The directory is intended for the personal use of members and was distributed to members only. Other publications of The Society of Scribes include the SOS Journal and newsletter.
