The Australian Printing Historical Society was started in 1984 and affiliated with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (renamed the Powerhouse Museum in 1988) in Sydney, New South Wales. The society published an annual journal called Wayzgoose as well as quarterly newsletters. The first newsletter was printed in 1985. The mission of the A.P.H.S. was to foster interest in the history of printing and related crafts and skills, to preserve historic printing presses and equipment, to publish findings related to printing history, to hold meetings and arrange lectures, to work with cultural institutions and organize exhibitions. About the Powerhouse Museum: "The Powerhouse Museum is located in Ultimo near Darling Harbour, Sydney. It is a public museum operated by the State Government for the people of New South Wales. Its unique and diverse collection spans history, science, technology, design, industry, decorative arts, music, transport and space exploration. It is also home to the material heritage and stories of Australian culture, history and lifestyle, providing a comprehensive insight into this rich and diverse country. There is estimated to be well over 500,000 separate items in the Museum’s collection."
