In 1948, Matisse gifted the Museum of Modern Art with one of the 100 copies without text of the portfolio "Jazz." French text in holograph, followed by English translation by Monroe Wheeler. "The plates...have been reproduced from the 1947 Paris publication of Editions Verve. Of the twenty plates...sixteen have been selected, with certain pages of Henri Matisse's accompanying text."
