Bright Hill Press
Bright Hill Press is located in Treadwell, New York. Bright Hill Literary Center was begun in 1992, as Word Thursdays, the Catskills reading series. It later incorporated Bright Hill Press, which publishes poetry and interdisciplinary art. The organization offers literary workshops for kids and adults. Its gallery, the Word & Image Gallery, presents interdisciplinary exhibits for several months of the year. "Book Arts is the perfect fit for Bright Hill's Word and Image Gallery, and for our mission, which reads 'To seek out, study, and collect the work of early and contemporary writers, storytellers, and artists, and to publish, disseminate, and present that work through publications and educational and public programs for the larger community." "Since our first exhibit, Bright Hill has presented juried book arts exhibits nine more times, and our jurors have included Rory Golden, Keith Smith, Nancy Callahan, Louise Neaderland, Edward H. Hutchins, Karen Hanmer, and Elsi Vassdal Ellis, all book artists and luminaries in the book arts world."--taken from the Introduction written by Bertha Rogers. 2017 was a special year as it marked Bertha Roger's 25th anniversary of directing Bright Hill and her last year as Executive Director of the organization.
