"The concept for the book emerged from a desire to experiment with computer graphics. A PC computer, 486 SLC 66, with 8 MB RAM, and Deluxe Paint II was used with a mouse to draw each of the heads. A different technique was used in each case. These drawings became various personifications. The text was developed as a result of studying the images which suggested a narrative: a question of identity. Type was set using Ariel and Wordperfect 5.2." -- Colophon
