Catalogue for the exhibition at MoMA in April/June 1969 collecting works from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, founded in Los Angeles in 1960 by June Wayne. Illustrations are chiefly black and white with some in color, with works by Josef Albers, Ruth Asawa, Bruce Conner, Philip Guston, David Hockney, Allen Jones, Louise Nevelson, Ken Price, Ed Ruscha, and H.C. Westermann among many others. "The Tamarind Lithography Workshop has almost single-handedly revived the difficult medium of lithography in the past decade. It has provided not only the materials but also the environment that fosters the delicate collaboration between artist and printer. ... Since Tamarind opened its doors in 1960 it has provided fellowships for numerous artists and printers, most of whom have continued their exploration of lithography after leaving Tamarind. The author describes this unique Workshop and also gives a brief history of lithography in Europe and the United States."--Dust jacket flap.
