"Gilman is an artist who uses text, in English and Spanish, as a vehicle for consolidating thoughts and directing a line of inquiry. Her work explores the ways we communicate, what we keep private, and how we try to control events in our daily lives. She will present a site-specific installation: a series of a multi-panel, interactive drawings -- that reads like a book on a wall -- along with related prints and an artist book. This project began as a reaction to a 1918 scientific journal and evolved into an exploration of her mother’s progressive memory loss." -- description from the Center for Book Arts
