This work serves as a conceptual continuation of Body as Land (FA.B131.3056)

Ooze / Made Land- set on Governors Island, NY—a site of geological formation and artificial construction—what is given and what is made? Structured along two accessible axes, the book meditates on the natural and the fabricated, experience and the self. It revisits the past, probes memory, and resignifies loss weaving a personal account of place through drawings, text, research, photography, and maquettes.

Ooze draws from the word’s meaning: to flow gradually, revealing a quality or feeling. This side of the book unfolds as an audiovisual chronicle—a personal meditation on the fluid interplay of materiality, water, and emotion. Through drawings, sound documentation, photography, notes, and poems, the work contemplates loss. Large-scale rice-paper drawings explore the dynamics between the left and right sides of the body, evoking an intimate sense of place where grief is processed and integrated.
Made Land, on the other hand, is a meditation on the manipulation of landscapes through human intervention, history, and urban development. It reflects on the shaping of nature for progress and expansion, and the fabrication of new land. The work interrogates the environmental separation that defines urban spaces. Text, drawings, photography, and a series of virtual models and maquettes crafted from soil and scanned using artificial intelligence create hybrid spaces where nature, humanity, and technology intersect. --Artist's description
