The image depicts Dante Alighieri sitting at a desk consulting books. This image was used by Tom Phillips for the cover of his 1985 work, "Dante's Inferno: The First Part of The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri."
CBA has one copy, this is copy 1, editioned and signed at the foot of the image: "Trial proof. IU/UI. Tom Phillips."
